Lu Qiu (Clyde Qiu) graduated from the College of Plant Protection at Southwest University of Chongqing, where he focused on the taxonomy and phylogeny of the cockroach superfamily Corydioidea during his master’s and doctoral studies. Currently, his primary research interests include the taxonomy, phylogeny, faunistics, biology, and biodiversity of Elateridae (click beetles) from China, as well as fossil click beetles found in Myanmar amber. He also investigates the diversity of Scarabaeinae in China. To date, Qiu has published over 50 papers, including 16 papers and one book on cockroaches, and approximately 30 papers on Elateridae. His contributions include the description of one new subfamily, 11 new genera, and more than 70 new species of insects. Additionally, he has a keen interest in land snails, having described five new snail species from China.
